Acrylic award engraving took over the recognition market for a plain reason: cast acrylic engraves to a bright frosted white that pops against clear or colored stock, it survives shipping that would shatter glass, and it costs a fraction of crystal while photographing nearly as well. The award on the shelf says what it needs to say, and the finance team doesn’t wince at the invoice.
We produce these for firms across Northern Virginia and beyond, and the orders that disappoint are always the same ones: rushed logo prep, wrong thickness, tiny text. All three are avoidable.
What engraves well on acrylic
Logos with solid shapes, clean sans-serif or serif text, names, dates, and line art all frost beautifully. The laser removes a thin layer and the frosted area catches light, so contrast comes free on clear stock. Colored acrylic (black, blue, frosted) reads more subtle, tone on tone, and suits modern branding better than most clients expect.
Photographic images are the weak spot. Acrylic wants shapes and lines, and a halftone photo engraved into it reads muddy from across a room. We’ll say so before you order twenty of them.
Thickness and shape
Thickness sells the award. A 3/4 inch or 1 inch slab feels substantial in the hand and stands without a base, where 1/4 inch stock reads like signage. Standard shapes (rectangle, peak, circle) come from stocked blanks and keep costs down. Custom outlines are a laser cut away, so a company-shaped award is possible, just slower.
Beveled and colored-edge blanks exist too. The blue-edge look is popular with tech firms for whatever reason. (We don’t ask. We engrave.)
Logo prep
Same rule as every material: vector art in, crisp award out. SVG, AI, EPS, or PDF. Gradients need converting to solid shapes, hairline strokes need thickening, and reversed text under 3 millimeters disappears into the frost. Send the file and we proof at actual size before anything runs, so what you approve is what the recipient holds.
Beyond awards
The same acrylic work covers interior signage, badge blanks, point-of-sale displays, and desk nameplates. If your office already ordered engraved awards from us, the lobby sign can match them, which is a small touch that reads deliberate.

Frequently asked questions
Two to three weeks is comfortable for a standard run. Single awards move faster, and rush is possible depending on blank availability.
Yes. Send a spreadsheet and per-piece personalization is straightforward. It costs less than most buyers assume.
Glass or crystal reads more traditional and suits a once-in-a-career moment. Acrylic wins for annual programs, volume, and anything that ships. Our glass engraving page covers the other route.
