Search for custom engraving in Northern Virginia and the results split into two camps: mall kiosks that scratch initials into a keychain while you wait, and industrial marking houses that won’t return a call about anything under a thousand units. We built Aion Custom Works for the gap in the middle. One keepsake or five hundred corporate pieces, run on equipment the kiosk will never own.
We’re based in Reston and we ship everywhere, so the “local” part is a convenience, not a limit.

The service area
Reston, Herndon, Vienna, Fairfax, Arlington, Ashburn, Alexandria, and the rest of the DC metro. Most projects run entirely by email and mail even for local customers, because it’s faster for everyone, but we arrange local drop-off and pickup when a job calls for it. Out-of-state customers mail their items in.
How a project runs
- Tell us the idea through the quote form: the item, the material, the design, the quantity. Photos and rough sketches are welcome, and spreadsheets are welcome for personalized batches.
- We come back with material recommendations, pricing, and turnaround. If your logo exists only as a screenshot, we’ll tell you, and we can help clean it up into vector form.
- You approve a proof showing exactly what gets engraved and where. Nothing fires until you sign off.
- We engrave and deliver, locally or by tracked shipping.
The proof step is not optional, and customers who want to skip it are the ones we’ve saved from typos more than once. Engraving has no undo.
Why not the kiosk?
Depth, mostly. Kiosk machines drag a stylus across the surface, and the result wears the way a scratch wears. A fiber laser mark is measured in thousandths of an inch and survives regulatory scrutiny, a pocket full of keys, and a decade of dishwasher cycles, depending on the process. Material knowledge is the other half: stainless behaves nothing like brass, walnut nothing like maple, and a shop that runs one material all day learns things a kiosk operator never will.
